Charles M. Westenhoff, Colonel, USAF (Ret.) Strategist, Author, Planner
Colonel Westenhoff, is the senior strategy advisor to the U.S. Air Force’s CHECKMATE Division. Colonel Westenhoff served as a Flight Inspection pilot, Forward Air Controller and Air Liaison Officer before becoming Air Attaché to Baghdad during the last portion of the Iran-Iraq War. In subsequent duties at the Airpower Research Institute and in the Plans Directorate of the Air Staff he served as a key participant in planning for contingencies and Title X wargames for the Air Force, other Services, and OSD. In 2004 he served as the Chief of Strategy with Coalition Joint Task Force 7 in Iraq until his retirement. His 1990 book Military Air Power is the most widely-printed book published by the Air
University Press.
