Title:  Wargaming - Aids to Effective Contingency Planning

Author: Charles M. Westenhoff, Colonel, USAF (Ret.)

Abstract:  Wargaming is normally conducted in the process of developing

strategies and plans. The US military planning process – the military

decision making model or MDMP – calls for wargaming at a particular time –

when comparing potential friendly courses of action to likely (and

dangerous) adversary courses of action.  However, wargaming can improve the

quality of strategic thinking at many different times and in different ways

to improve contingency planning.  This talk will cover some of the most

important.
